These customers analyze and test samples for external clients under contract. Keeping close watch on costs and time spent in testing is very important, as well as the ability to role up the costs for each sample or batch of samples, so that the LIMS will create an invoice for the work completed. Some clients also want the LIMS to generate quotes for the work to be sent to prospective customers.
Scheduling and resource planning is very important, knowing what will happen if you accept another contract with an urgent deadline.
External customers need to be able to submit requests for quotation, submit their samples, track their work and receive the approved results via the web interface.
