These customers provide testing services to internal groups such as Basic Research, Product Development and Quality Control. Frequently, samples are submitted to the testing laboratory, along with a request to determine the value of specific parameters. The laboratory must acknowledge receipt and complete the tests, reporting the results back to the submitter in a timely manner. Tests are both chemical (pH, Fe content, etc) and physical (tensile strength, elongation, tear value, etc), hence the ability to accommodate many different types of test and calculations is essential. Submitters also like the ability to be able to request priorities and to check when their results will be completed. This reduces time consuming telephone calls to the laboratory!

Laboratory managers require the ability to create performance reports (MYD, YTD) for senior management that show how the laboratory is performing, as well as which departments are submitting the most requests. Graphs of trends are important for QA and QC purposes.
